Data Privacy
Slow Things is run by Chuan Khoo in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia, contactable via hello@slowthings.io.
This Privacy page details what gets stored when you visit the website, and wonder if you should Accept or Decline the use of cookies.
If you accept
Slow Things use Google Analytics to count visits: which pages are read, roughly where in the world (worked out from your IP address, which is not stored), what kind of device and browser, and how you arrived. The analytics is not used for advertising. Records are kept for 14 months and then deleted.
Google processes this data, on servers that include the United States, under Google's data processing terms and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
If you do nothing, or decline
Nothing is sent to anyone. The site sets no cookies and no tracking. It only stores your 'no' answer to the cookie question, in your browser, so it does not ask again.
Changing your mind
You can change your decision by clicking on "Cookies" in the footer. Doing so stops the counting and removes the cookies from your browser. It does not affect anything counted before.
Your rights
You can ask me what this Slow Things website hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to how it is used. However, as the counts are anonymous, I may not be able to find you in these counts. If you email me, Slow Things will use your address only to reply.
If you are not satisfied, you can lodge a complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au) or to the data protection authority where you live.
If you buy a product from the site
To make and post what you ordered, and send you confirmation, Slow Things keeps:
- your email address;
- the name and postal address you give for delivery;
- what you ordered and the options you chose; and
- a reference to your payment, completed by Stripe (the bank card merchant)
Your card or bank details themselves go to Stripe, not to this website or its server.
Your name and address are supplied to the postage carrier. Stripe takes the payment, and Resend sends the emails about your order. Your details are used for your order confirmation.
How long order records are kept
By law, records of an order are kept for five years, and then deleted. You can still ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted where the law allows, by writing to orders@slowthings.io.
