objects of slow data
Slow data* is an act of quiet, reflective resistance. It suggests alternative ways to interact with our digital data. This is not about simply abandoning how we use it today, but through creative expression and mindful engagement, learn how we can live with it without the pressures of attention and distraction.
It is a way of shifting our behaviour, to encourage us to interrogate and learn how we consume digital media, and in so doing, reflect on our wellbeing, how we treat each other, and our planet.
Building on this philosophy, Slow data objects are a designer collection of bespoke electronic and digitally-embedded objects for mindfulness. Just like the technology it critiques, the collection utilises cutting-edge components and services to invite reflection on technology usage itself. Simultaneously, they are just as functional as they are evocative. These are not just artisanal products, but potentially useful tools for everyday life.
